This is what I learned from Bill Gates when I was at Microsoft. His worked methodology has allowed me to thrive across the world working in different countries, cultures and companies.
1) Solve for the Customer
I start with the customer and work backwards. I continuously strive to earn and keep the customer trust. While I pay attention to competitors, I obsess over customers.
2) Bias for Action
Speed matters in every business. Many decisions and actions are versible and do not need extensive discussion. I value calculated risk taking, failing fast and learning quickly.
3) Deliver Results
I focus on the few things that will have the biggest impact and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion.
4) Hire & Develop the Best
I play a part in developing the people around us and the capabilities of the organization as a whole; from identifying great new talent, to promoting rising stars, coaching and mentoring everyone to be their best.
5). Show Strong Judgement
I combine strong judgement and good instincts with data and insights, seeking diverse perspectives to solve problems with confidence an conviction.
